Anti Bribery Statement

The League is aware of the need to adhere to all relevant legislation, including the Bribery Act 2010.

In line with the Act no committee member or member acting on behalf of the League can accept any gift or consideration as an inducement or reward for doing, or knowingly doing, anything in their official capacity or showing favour or disfavour to any persons in their official capacity.

When conducting League business every effort will be made to assess the risks involved in dealing with external organisations. This may include, but is not limited to, simple internet searches, personal recommendations and seeking advice from other charities.

All League members conducting business on behalf of the League are reminded that the overriding rules governing the acceptance of gifts, benefits and hospitality are that they

  • must not accept any gifts, benefits or hospitality – either directly or through a third party (ie, a family member or friend) that would, or might appear to place them under any obligation to an individual or organisation making the offer
  • compromise their impartiality or otherwise be improper
  • any gifts, benefits or hospitality must be refused if either the member or the Executive Committee are in any doubt about the propriety of accepting them.

Any member, acting on behalf of the League found, following investigation, to be in breach of the above will be deemed to have brought the League into disrepute and will be excluded from the League, in line with the League Constitution.

This statement will be reviewed by the Executive Committee bi-annually
